What does this ruling mean?
This ruling increases the standard salary and highly compensated employee total annual compensation thresholds, potentially extending overtime protection to more workers.
What are these new thresholds?
  • As of July 1, 2024, salaried workers who make less than $844 per week ($43,888 per year) will become eligible for overtime.
  • As of January 1, 2025, salaried workers who make less than $1,128 per week ($58,656 per year) will become eligible for overtime.
When do these changes go into effect?
These changes will take effect on July 1, 2024. This ruling also provides future updates to these salary thresholds through January 1, 2025, and every 3 years going forward.
